The accident occurred about 4:50 p.m. at 629 North St., when 12 workers were trying to lift a 25 foot by 15 foot wall made of 4-by-8-foot LCL lumber with three-quarter inch plywood sheathing.
As the wall was lifted to about shoulder height, two of the workers went under the section of and the wall dropped, Greenwich Police said. The section of wall was lifted off the victims by the other crew members, and a foreman with first aid training rendered medical assistance.
When emergency services workers arrived, the construction crew created an impromptu ramp to assist in the rapid and stable extrication of their injured coworkers, police said. The injured workers were transported to the Stamford Hospital, with one of the workers suffering potentially life-threatening injuries, police said.
The accident scene has been turned over to the state Department of Labor's Division of Occupational Safety and Health for investigation, police said. The location is in the vicinity of the Merritt Parkway.
